| Instructor Bio: | Catherine "Cathy" Cox's passion for sewing began as a young girl, learning alongside her mother. Throughout her school years, she embraced every homemaking class available and was an active member of Future Homemakers of America (FHA), even serving as an officer. Over the years, Cathy has transformed her love of sewing into a lifetime of creativity and craftsmanship. She has sewn clothing for herself, her children, and now her grandchildren. Her sewing talents have also served her community through creating uniforms for local cheer squads and designing custom costumes for stage performers. In addition to her creative talents, Cathy built a successful career in technology. After graduating from Lamar University in Orange, Texas, she worked as a computer programmer and software developer for organizations including Chevron, IFCO, Pillsbury, and the State of Texas. Later, she shared her knowledge as an instructor, teaching computer skills to adults transitioning into new careers and helping them develop the skills needed to re-enter the workforce. Today, Cathy combines her technical expertise, teaching experience, and lifelong passion for sewing as the Lead Educator at Sew Vac City in College Station, Texas. Her unique background allows her to break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand lessons, making quilting, embroidery, and machine techniques accessible to students of all skill levels. Since joining Sew Vac City, Cathy has excelled in digitizing, embroidery, and mastering a wide variety of sewing, embroidery, and quilting machines. She is known for her patience, dedication, and commitment to helping others succeed. If a student has a question, Cathy is determined to find the answer and ensure they have the knowledge and confidence to continue their creative journey. Whether teaching quilting techniques, embroidery skills, software applications, or machine operation, Cathy is passionate about inspiring others to discover the joy of creating something beautiful with their own hands.
